Remember: choices, paths, memories.
All of these come to my mind as I look at all that has taken place in my short time of 18 years in this life. Memories are sometimes our best friend, or our worst enemies. They bring to light all that GOD has done in and for our lives, and then they turn around and remind us all that we have done, the paths we have paved, the choices we have made. Memories reveal to you, through your life, the whole of who you are. Rapper and artist Andy Mineo states in his song Rewind, "Everything I'm not made me everything I am." What a simplistic, yet profound statement for us to contemplate in our lives. All that we desire to be, though we never achieve it on our own, shapes and molds our identity if we let it. I think of all the mistakes I've made, yet I don't like to dwell too heavily because condemnation and temptation can easily creep in (not beneficial for anyone). This allows me to forget all that my Lord Jesus wanted me to remember: My Identity in who He is and has made Me. That's what I primarily desire to look at as we take a glimpse back even further, is to the things that were and forever will be. If you haven't learned from my previous blog post Beyond the Vapor: The Value of Eternity, I believe and look forward to the things of forever, or more importantly, the One who loves forever. Without God, tell me, what will last beyond this? In conjunction with all of humanity seeking to find purpose I have found in God's Word, that His sacrifice for me makes perfect, complete, fulfilling sense to our existence. In that aspect as we are looking back for a time in His Word, it should help us to press on and move forward. Take a moment to recollect and pray as you seek out His Word. So what does this everlasting God desire for us to remember: It shall be, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the rainbow shall be seen in the cloud; and I will remember My covenant which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh. The rainbow shall be in the cloud, and I will look on it to remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.” - Genesis 9:14-16 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. - Exodus 20:8 And you shall have the tassel, that you may look upon it and remember all the commandments of the Lord and do them, and that you may not follow the harlotry to which your own heart and your own eyes are inclined, and that you may remember and do all My commandments, and be holy for your God. I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: I am the Lord your God.” - Numbers 15:39-41 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the Lord our God. - Psalm 20:7 Remember, O Lord, Your tender mercies and Your lovingkindnesses, For they are from of old. Do not remember the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions; According to Your mercy remember me, For Your goodness’ sake, O Lord. - Psalm 25:6-7 Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say, “I find no pleasure in them”— before the sun and the light and the moon and the stars grow dark, and the clouds return after the rain; - Ecclesiastes 12:1-2 “Do not remember the former things ,Nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth;Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert. This people I have formed for Myself; They shall declare My praise. - Isaiah 43:18-19,21 But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.” - Jeremiah 31:33-34 Remember Lot’s wife. Whoever seeks to save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it. - Luke 17:32-33 I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” - Acts 20:35 Remember that Jesus Christ, of the seed of David, was raised from the dead according to my gospel, Therefore I endure all things for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. - 2 Timothy 2:8,10 Remember the prisoners as if chained with them-those who are mistreated-since you yourselves safe in the body also. Remember those who rule over you, who have spoken the word of God to you, whose faith follow, considering the outcome of their conduct. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. - Hebrews 13:2, 7-8,15-16 I only know I can barely even scratch the surface of the deepness within God's Word to us. Especially since this is only a small of what is healthy for us and vital to remember. There are things to think and dwell upon, but do not forget to apply these in your everyday. Keep them upon your hearts that they daily enter your mind and that Jesus may work through you in your hands. Give Him praise for what He has, is, and will do for you. |
